MONKI & MOMO

Our first night in Amsterdam was planned out!

I do love organising a trip before I go on one. Not minute by minute however, just booking restaurants and bars and that. Things I know will definitely get booked up!

Our first night we had planned to go to MOMO – a fine dining sushi experience. As well as your usual California rolls, MOMO serves high-end Asian-fusion dishes and also have a creative and extensive cocktail list.

Originally we planned to have the set menu, which contained a little bit of everything! From black cod to beef skewers and scallops and edamame but unfortunately we didn’t read the small print which states its only available for a minimum of 4 people. Instead we picked a variety of dishes from the main menu.

To start we went for chicken skewers in a peanut sauce – no lie these are the best chicken skewers I have ever had EVER! Also a classic bowl of spicy edamame!

Mains we had an array of sushi plates. A salmon, avo and asparagus one, the spicy tuna and also the vegetarian board. I love a meggie sushi and this one ticked every box! It was so so good. Cannot recommend that dish more! If that wasn’t enough food we also ordered the Black Cod – MATE If you haven’t tried this before, stop what your doing, put on some shoes ( I dunno why I assumed you wouldn’t be wearing any but hey #hippylife) walk to either Sticks n Sushi or Roka and get some now. There was a full on party in my mouth. The taste is indescribable. It was like my taste buds were born again.

I wish I took more pictures of the food but tbh it tasted so good that I didn’t even want to waste a second not eating it haha. I did however get some photos of my outfit!

I ordered this lush jumper dress from ASOS, its by the brand Monki! The material is amazing, its like a quilted cotton, really thick, warm and the perfect shape. It is kinda that boxy/over-sized style but not too massive. A lot of the time these type of outfits swallow me up and I end up drowning in them!

I wore my dreaaaaaaaamiest thigh highs! These baby’s are from Ego. The colour of these are to die for. The perfect shade of camel. They are super soft and extremely comfortable – even with that mega heel. They do droop a tiny bit but for anyone who read my previous tips blog post you would of known my sneaky little hack to keep your thigh highs around your thighs and not your ankles (haha that sounds a little cheeky). Anyway if you haven’t read it you can do so here!

So if you are going to Amsterdam anytime soon and you want to eat somewhere that little bit special I definitely recommend MOMO. It is the type of place where you’ll need to dress up a little bit special as it is very “suited and booted” in there but it will be so worth it. It only cost us about 7 euros in a cab too so it’s not too far out from the center. You can find out more about the restaurant and menus as well as making a reservation here!
